Venice and Sundance Film Festival

Venice-International-Film-FestivalThe Venice International Film Festival is the oldest of its kind in the world. The festival was founded by Count Giuseppe Volpi in 1932. It is arranged every year on Lido Island, Venice, Italy in August end or in beginning of September. This festival is termed as one of the most prestigious cultural heritage and is well known worldwide.  Various categories of awards are given to movies, actors and actresses. Last year in 2013, for 70th edition of Venice International Film Festival 70 directors from all around the world were invited to contribute with a short 60-90 seconds movie as part of celebration. This project was termed as Venezia 70 – Future Reloaded and directors were given complete liberty. These short films were premiered at the Lido and were also published on the website of Biennale (www.labiennale.org). Also some rare pictures and documents from the history of festival were added in a page dedicated to the festival’s history.

Sundance Film Festival is annually arranged in January by the Sundance Institute in Park City Utah. It began in 1985 where 86 films were screened during this 10 days event. The Sundance is considered as a premier competition for American as well as international independent movies. This platform has recognized various original resources of filmmakers, music and theatre artists. Some of these names include Reservoir Dogs, American Splendor, Little Miss Sunshine and others. Over the last 3 decades, the festival has witnessed enormous growth. This year 186 films were screened in 9 PC theatres.
